Can you remember your first night under canvas? I can. I was ten at the time and I still remember the smell of the canvas and the wind tugging at the bell tent on the North Norfolk cliff top as I tried to go to sleep. It was my first night on Dolphin Camp - now known as Dolphin Launchpad and I remember that holiday as the place where I started to grow up and make decisions about my own life, my own choices, my own faith. Somehow having time away from the support of our parents and school gives us the space to develop. That holiday and one’s that followed were pivotal for me and that’s why I’m glad we still give young people these opportunities. The tents are still the same. The field a little further from the cliff edge. Why? To get have a good holiday? Yes but more importantly to grow up in faith.
