Volunteer on a West Runton Holiday

Our team members come from all walks of life and backgrounds but are united around the aim of wanting to give young people the chance to hear the Gospel and grow in their faith while having a really great holiday!

“I had the opportunity to pray with some of our young campers and hearing how they prayed for one another filled my heart with joy.”

FAQs
What does the application process involve?
Get in touch with us to express your interest via the above form. Let us know if there is a potential holiday you are interested in serving on, or if not we can help identify a suitable gap based on your skills and availability
We will then arrange for you to have an informal conversation with the holiday leader to talk through the role in more details
If you wish to proceed, we will ask you to complete our online formal team application form, this includes agreeing to our Statement of Beliefs.
Two references will be taken up (one from a church leader). We also take up an enhanced DBS checks for anyone serving directly on one of our holidays
Are there any requirements of team members?
For most of our roles, no specific skills or qualifications are needed, we just require team to have an active Christian faith and agree to our Statement of Beliefs and agree to conduct their activities in relation to West Runton Holidays in a way that upholds our Lifestyle Statement.
We expect that all team members are regularly attending a Bible believing Christian church.
The team member must be an appropriate age for the holiday. Although we accept volunteers aged 16+, there will be an older minimum age on a lot of our holidays where the participants attending are older (we generally require team to be at least two school years older than the oldest participant). Team members under the age of 18 are considered to be junior team and will not be left unsupervised with young people and will receive lots of support in their roles.
All team members will need to complete a health form prior to the holiday
What training is provided?
All team members are asked to complete our online safeguarding training prior to the holiday
Each holiday will hold a team planning meeting - this could be on Zoom on in person (some holidays do an entire team weekend). Here holiday roles will be talked through and what is expected of team
If certain qualifications are needed for your role (eg minibus qualifications, first aid certificates) we will seek to support you to achieve these
Holiday leaders will provide you with written information (via email) outlining things like the timetable for the holiday, roles and responsibilities etc
Holiday leaders will go through with all team members our annual safeguarding update prior to camp (either on Zoom on in person at the start of the holiday)
Is there a cost to be on team?
It has always been the desire of West Runton that team members and young people share the cost of the holiday to keep the cost down and make the holidays accessible to all. West Runton Holidays have no set fees for team but the cost of putting a team member on the holiday is approximately the advertised price. We therefore ask team members to consider if they are able to make a donation to help cover their own food and board. (Though please note, we understand that for students or unemployed etc. giving anything may not be possible - and we first and foremost value the gift of your time!)
If team members want to support the work financially, donations are invited to the Runton Dolphin Trust. The Runton Dolphin Trust is a registered charity (no. 259094) whose object is to further the spread of the Gospel message through providing grants for young people’s places, equipment and training to Christian holidays, especially West Runton Holidays.
